I had been out over 20 years when I heard about it via some anti-jw website, so I did the research to see if it was really true and got all excited becasue I thought, at last, I can get my family out now they will have to see what a crock of shit this is at last. And of course when I brought it up with my family I got all of the responses mentioned above and it was then I realized that nothing was ever going to get them out.

Describe your first thoughts upon hearing the 1914 generation 'new light'
by kid-A in.
we all remember where we were and what we were thinking during highly significant events....(e.g.
9-11, jfk, etc)..... if you can recall, what were the first thoughts racing through your mind as you sat at the 1995 d.c. at the infamous 1914 generation change announcement, was it "the final nail in the coffin of your wts beliefs or did you engage in mental gymnastics to try to assimilate the "fresh meat in due season" lol....... i was in such shock at this announcement, i think my mind just blanked out for 10 minutes followed by: "ok, this really is it for me......they have duped us all along", i then immediately started thinking of my 90 year old jw grandmother sitting in the stadium, and what must have been going through her mind......

The Statlers are hard to beat when it comes to gospel, How Great Thou Art, Old Rugged Cross, etc. I agree, good music is good music.

Well, the nimrod that handled my dad's last August stuck to the script and it was nothing but a plug (or a butt plug however you want to look at it) for the WBTS, he even kindly offered to have a study with anyone interested at the end of his speech. Luckily for him dad was cremated or I would have pitched his worthless carcas into the hole when he was done.
On a happy note, my cheapskate mother accepted the grave marker from the government as dad was a vet, but what she didn't count on was the soldier who showed up to present her with a folded United States flag. All the JW's present looked on in horror after brother Nimrod was done and this soldier steps up and gives this speech about what a good soldier dad was etc. and goes to hand the flag to mom who just sits there jaw hanging open, so I stepped up and took the flag. It saved the day for me, at least someone said something about who my father was.
